Early spring thunderstorm in north central oklahoma recorded on 05/02/2018 starting at about 9:30 pm cdt. Recorded in the middle of the country by placing a mic outside the man cave window of my house. The storm starts with light rain and some medium distance thunder. At about 4:00 mins the wind starts to pick up and by 5 mins the wind sound drowns out everything else (50-60 mph gusts). By 6:00 mins the wind is fading as the storm front passes. By 9:00 mins it’s just soft rain and occasional thunder. At about 13:00 mins, the thunder starts picking up a bit. At about 17:00 mins it starts raining harder again, with occasional thunder, until the end. A couple of human noises were edited out, and noise reduction was applied.

A soundscape of several thunderstorms mixed together to create a uniquely immersive, full field recording. This editing process allows for rain and thunder strikes to be recorded at different volumes and creates a more diverse atmosphere with different types of rain, wind, and ambiance melded into one found sound. I took this recording from my room in a beautiful casa on the main square in santa clara. It was warm and not windy so i could keep the windows open during the storm, and eavesdrop on this little party, which seemed to warm up as the storm did. I left my zoom h4n on a table under a roof on the back yard paving to capture a massive thunderstorm. Lots of rain. Lots of thunder. It starts in the distance and then comes over the house - a big storm. Some door noises at the start and some bird noises and a car driving by and a bus in there as well. But generally mainly rain and thunder.
